Artists in residency

The Street Theory Collective Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program, is an initiative created to support emerging and underrepresented creatives by providing dedicated space, resources, and opportunities to develop and showcase their work. Designed as part of our broader mission to cultivate a thriving creative ecosystem, the residency offers artists time to experiment, create, and engage with the community through open studios, programming, and public activations. By investing in artists and providing meaningful platforms for visibility and growth, we aim to help strengthen and sustain the creative voices shaping our cultural landscape.

our strategy

  • Artists who are interested in intersectionality, community engagement, and/or social activism through art

  • Participants will have access to our incubator makers space and guidance from Street Theory’s network to help with the artists’ creative process.

  • Artists will have designated time and space to produce and finalize their project. Street Theory will assist the artist to produce a final residency exhibition.

  • There will be a final gallery opening and celebration for the artists and project participants. The artists will engage with the community through artists talks or panel discussions in conjunction with the exhibition.

Meet our artist in resident

Michael Talbot is a Jamaican-born, Boston-based Freelance Artist and Visual Story-teller who has worked on a wide range of projects, murals, exhibitions, and showcases since 2012. His work, often narrative-driven,is most characterized by the keen use of motion, negative space, as well as a limited palette reminiscent of graphic novels and other forms of sequential art. Michael believes that all art is inter-connected in some facet; informing, complimenting and/or enhancing each other. And although his passion and interest for storytelling is forefront in his practice and craft, he tends to draw from his knowledge in multiple areas of study to help strengthen this process.
